ACSS, designed for overhead distribution and transmission lines, operates continuously at high temperatures up to 250°C without strength loss. It sags less than ACSR under electrical loadings, is self-damping when prestretched, and its final sags aren't affected by long-term aluminum creep. These advantages make ACSS ideal for reconductoring, new lines with reduced sag, high emergency loadings, and lines prone to aeolian vibration.
